AJA SANGALI was bred by Malcom and Jane Hickford, from AJA Arabians, in Great Britain. He is out of the AJA Arabians matriarch, BEY SANTEYNA, a 1993 born BEY SHAH grand daughter on dam's side, imported from the U.S. in the studfarm's early days.
AJA SANGALI was one of the very first progeny of his sire, FS BENGALI, a KUBINEC son out of the SANADIK EL SHAKLAN daughter OM EL SANADIVA, who was World Champion Filly as a three-year-old. FS BENGALI was also shown successfully himself many times, both by his breeder, and longtime owner and shareholder of the stallion, the professional trainer Frank Spönle, from Germany, anmd also the Hickfords of AJA Arabians, who had been a shareholder in the FS BENGALI partnership. It was arranged, that BENGALI was to come to England every second year to breed the mares over there. And this was how AJA SANGALI was produced, like his younger full brother, the also successful AJA SANAGOR, now sold to Egypt.
When AJA SANGALI was a yearling, and had already been sold by the Hickfords to a new breeder from England, Jackie Ware, of Portsdown Arabians, his breeders, owners and the trainer Frank Spönle decided, to bring him out to shows - due to his individual quality but also as a representative for his young sire, FS BENGALI.
In 2000, AJA SANGALI made his show debut - and stepped from one show to the next show to finish with just and only wins. The year ended with the most prestigueous "Triple Crown", an honour achieved when a horse gets Champion in one and the same year at the three most important shows in Europe: the All Nations Cup in Aachen, the European Championships, and the World Championships in Paris. AJA SANGALI won all three and took the ribbons t the All Nations Cup, European, and World Champion Colt
2000!
That was not all in this exciting year for him. At the World Championships in Paris, Mutlaq Ben Mushrif, representative of Al Khalediah, from Saudi Arabia, who was attending the show, saw AJA SANGALI during the second day of the show in the qualification class, and went straight ahead to buy this young colt for a price that the owner could not refuse. So the very next day, in Paris in the Finals, it was the Saudi anthem that was played while the Saudi colors and flag went up - as AJA SANGALI became indeed the World Champion Colt.
Flying to the desert of Saudi Arabia, AJA SANGALI found a beautiful place as his new home. And a broodmare base, that gave him a lot of opportunities to establish himself as a sire. And since he started to bred mares in 2002, he has produced some very good foals. One of the most well known is the 2003 born MOUTAZ Al Buwibiya, a chocolate dark bay out of Premirra (by Perlanes Premier). MOUTAZ was shown in the Near and Middle East, and in Europe in 2004 /2005, and made a reputation for himself as well as for his sire by winning many championship titles in these years.
Another well known representative of AJA SANGALI is his daughter LANA AL KHALEDIAH (out of Thee Evening Star), also 2003 born, and also a chocolate dark bay winning many junior titles in Europe.
AJA SANGALI improved his individual quality, but is also very nicely representing the qualities of his ancestors and bloodline. Meanwhile his main objective is to breed mares, being shown only a very few times as a stallion. At the 2003 International Championshiops in Jordan, for example, he became Reserve Champion Stallion, and in 2005, he was class winner of four-to-six year old Stallions at the 2005 Saudi National Championships - at the same show, when his son MOUTAZ and his daughter LANA became Saudi National Reserve Junior Champions. |
