The 'Prince Sultan Abdulaziz International Arabian Horse Festival' in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is approved and upgraded from the ECAHO committee to a new 'Title Show'! In Total, there are just five 'Title shows' accepted in the ECAHO schedule, in Europe - the All Nations Cup in Aachen, the European Championships, and the World Championships in Paris, plus the Middle East Championships in Jordan, and formerly the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championships. Dubai stepped out from the ECAHO affiliation in March 2012. The position was free and is now honored to the prestigeous Saudi PSAIAHF 2013. The show will celebrate it's 6th edition in highest level and with several new ideas - stay tuned. _________________________________ (23. Oct. 2012)

Under the leadership of Dr. Francesco Santoro, best known as an international judge and breeder of straight Egyptian horses, and his two best known consultants Christiane Chazel and Dominik Briot, the 1st straight Egyptian World Championships was held in Rome from 5th to 7th October 2012. About 60 horses took the challenge, among them eleven fillies and mares from Qatar (5 from Al Waab Farm, 5 from Al Shaqab, one from a private breeder), four from Saudi Arabia (Al Khalediah Stables and Al Nayfat Stud), one from Dubai, a few from Israel, Sweden, Belgium, and a group of straight Egyptian horses from Italy. The eight judges used the comparative system, no scores were given, only points set according to the individual ranking of each judge.
The Rome show was a huge success for the Al Waab Farm from Qatar, who showed five females to win four medals. The homebred two-year-old DEEMA AL WAAB (by Ansata Nile Echo) was honoured as Gold Champion Filly, NABEELA SAQR (by the Imperial Madheen son Tallahsman) as Gold Champion Mare. Her two stablemates, JOUNA AL NAIF (by Ashhal Al Rayyan) was Silver Mare and DAAJAAH AL NAIF (Al Adeed Al Shaqab x RN Mezna) Bronze!
The Silver medal in Fillies went to the two-year-old Ashhal Al Rayyan daughter GHALIYA AL ZOUBARA (see her in our February 'Monthly') from Qatar, and Bronze Filly was AMINA AL SHAQAB (by Al Adeed Al Shaqab), bred and owned by Al Shaqab. So all the six medals in the female sections went to Qatar.
The Gold medals in Males both went to Saudi Arabia. Gold Champion Colt was HAYAB AL NAYFAT, a two-year-old bay bred and owned by Al Nayfat Stud and already successfully shown as a yearling to Silver Champion Colt at the 1st Straight Egyptian Show in Qatar in 2011. The Silver Champion came from Belgium, PSE ATLANTA. with SET SL from Israel in Bronze. Gold Champion Stallion was Al Khalediah's well known F-SHAMAAL who won sovereign after his biggest competitor Royal Colours did not return to the Finals. Silver was MOUADAAR BKV from Israel, and Bronze ABHA KAREEM owned by Saud Al Babtain, Saudi Arabia.
The special award "Best Sire" went to ASHHAL AL RAYYAN, a son of Ansata Majesta tracing back in tail female line to the Queen of straight Egyptian breeding, the famous MALIKAH (see her 'Portrait'). The great matriarch appears minimum once, mostly two or three times in the pedigree of five female champions reflecting the input of this valuable blood in the straight Egyptian breeding.-____________________________________________ (12. The 2012 Paris World Championships will have two initiatives. For a very first time in Paris a specific Yearling Championship of the yearling fillies and colts, is scheduled to be held. The Yearling Championships will be confirmed if a minimum of 20 entries in each class are entered. If less, the yearlings will compete in the regular Junior Championships with the two and three-year-olds.
The other initiative in 2012 is that there is a medal of "Platinum" World Champion. The title can be awarded to a Senior male and Senior female having already obtained the title of 'Gold' World Senior Champion in a previous edition of the World Championship. More specifically, a senior horse who obtained the highest score in the Championship and holder of a prior title of Gold World Champion will be awarded the Supreme World Champion 'Platinum medal' title. The exciting top news turned out as a surprise! Just two weeks after the 2012 Polish National Show and Auction where HH Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, proud owner of Ajman Stud, secured the lovely EJRENE and bought her in the 2012 auction for a record price, he added another Polish top world class mare to his collection - the outstanding EMANDORIA!
EMANDORIA is another Gazal Al Shaqab daughter (as EJRENE is, too) and out of the famous E-line, and bred by Michalow Stud. More information about her and her story can be found in our "Portraits" section.
EMANDORIA will move now for a specific period in time into the stables next to the other Polish mares of Sheikh Ammar's Polish collection, which include the double World Champion Mare KWESTURA, International Champion Mare EMIRA, the recently aquired International and European Champion EJRENE, and now also EMANDORIA! ____________________________________ (31. The ECAHO International A-show in the UK was held on the 25th and 26th of August and turned out to be a feast of success for the studs and owners from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Al Khalediah Stables won three Gold medals. Al Muawd Stud won one Gold, one Silver, one Bronze, and Al Mohamadia Stud one Silver. Here the major results:
GOLD Stallion was the best known Multi Champion DAKHARO, with Al Muawd Stud's six-year-old MPA GIULIANI in the SILVER medal championship. GOLD Champion Mare went to the many times successfully Gazal Al Shaqab daughter and "moving machine" MAGORA, with the 4-year-old Master Design GA daughter KAPAYAS DESIGN, bred and owned by the Howells from UK, in SILVER.
GOLD Champion Colt became the very lovely and typey chestnut yearling colt DESIGN FOR LIFE (by the Master Design son Designed), bred by Rhiannon Jones & Stuart Howells, Wales, owned by Al Muawd Stud, Saudi Arabia. SILVER Colt was the 3-year-old MAHARANI HDM, owned by Al Mohamadia Stud, and BRONZE the typey yearling colt SABEA AL MUAWD (see him in our April 2012 'Monthly').
GOLD Champion Filly was the well known 2-year-old GHAZALAT AL KHALEDIAH, bred in the US and purchased from the Al Khalediah Stables in early 2011. She continues to make her successful way throughout Europe and the Middle East. SILVER was the 3-year-old black beauty AVA (by Vervaldee) from Great Britain.___________________________________ (29. The lovely 2004 born EJRENE was the 'Top Seller' of the 2012 auction in Poland. In a dramatic auction the bay Michalow bred Gazal Al Shaqab daughter out of the Monogramm daughter Emocja was sold for 440.000 EUR finally to HH Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi and his famous Ajman Stud in the United Arab Emirates. Sheikh Ammar has now added another most successful top quality mare from Poland to his beautiful first class collection. EJRENE is sold bred to the 2011 Aachen Gold Champion Colt and World Reserve Shanghai EA for a 2013 foal.__________________________________________ (16. August 2012)

On the last weekend of July, the first International ECAHO A-show was held in Italy. About 60 horses were present to compete in the show, and the final results turned out to be another great success for the Middle East and the four participating middle eastern studs (Athbah Stud, Al Shaqab, Al Nayfat Stud, Dubai Arabian Stud), who took all four GOLD medals. The main championship results are:

The famous Michalow bred and owned mare EL DORADA, a 1998 daughter of Sanadik el Shaklan out of Emigrantka, has been leased to the famous Athbah Stud from Saudi Arabia. The 14-year-old Polish mare has achieved many successes, in Europe and also during her stay and time in the United States. The last time she was shown by Polish Michalow Stud was at the 2011 Paris World Championships, where EL DORADA finished in "Top Ten" and impressed all with her fantastic presence, look and outstanding movement. Athbah Stud moved her recently from Poland to Belgium where she will be based at the Schoukens Training Center, from where we can expect to see her to compete soon under the Saudi colours and flag.______________________ (28. At the annual International Arab horse ECAHO B-show at Blommeröd in Sweden, held on the 7th and 8th of July 2012, the famous Al Khalediah Stables from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had more great success in Europe. Competing for a very first time at this place, which is the birth place of their most successful multiple Champion Mare MAGORA bred by the Blommeröd Arabstuteri, Al Khalediah competed with three horses and made it twice to GOLD (Haifa Al Khalediah and Moutaz Al Bouwibiya) and once to SILVER (colt Shamal Al Khalediah). The lovely, very typey straight Egyptian mare HAIFA AL KHALEDIAH took the lead in her class of 4 - 6 year Mares, and won Gold Champion Mare. HAIFA is a daughter of Ansata Nile Pearl, who was sold a few years ago in the Al Khalediah auction by the record price to Sheikh Khaled Bagido, Saudi Arabia, and left this 2007 born daughter by F. Shamaal at the Al Khalediah Stables behind her. HAIFA now starts her show career in Europe. In the Stallions, the very well known chocolate bay MOUTAZ AL BUWIBIYA headed and reached to GOLD Champion and he even was "Highest scored horse at Show". MOUTAZ is an AJA Sangali son out of the US bred FS Premirra (by Perlane's Premier), a multiple Champion Mare herself. The nine-year-old MOUTAZ was born at HRH Prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud's late father's stud named 'Al Buwibiya' and was selected from Sheikh Mutlaq bin Meshrif, the director of the Al Khalediah Stables, to join his top show horses already in very early stage. Since MOUTAZ collected many success and championship titles in the Middle East and in Europe and now has added this one in Sweden. _______________________________________ (09. July 2012)

The 2012 'Pride of Poland' auction offers two great options of Gazal Al Shaqab daughters being in the top of the 2012 auction list, one from each of the famous Polish studs. One is the 8-year-old bay EJRENE out of Emocja (by Monogramm) bred and owned by Michalow Stud who is known already for many years as a consistently successful mare in the showring. She is also best known for the beautiful type, the well conformed head, her most exciting movement, and she proves her overall quality with all her show records and championships from early age to now. Her last success was at the 2012 Polish Nationals winning Reserve Champion Mare. In 2009, EJRENE gave birth to a filly by Eden C, in 2010 a filly by Ganges, and at the end of January 2012 she had a filly foal by Albedo (by Piaff).
The other Gazal daughter offered in the auction is the 9-year-old grey ETNOLOGIA (out of Etalanta/ by Europejczyk) from Janow Podlaski Sud. This mare is best known from the international show ring and records several success, including overall Top Five Mare at the Polish Nationals and Top Ten at the Paris World Championships. She impresses with her overall balance, quality, size, and again, great movement. Presently the new pictures for the auction catalogue are currently being photographed in Poland, so the auction horses can be seen soon at the official 'Pride of Poland' website, catalogue and on CD. The Auction itself is during the weekend of 10. - 12. August, and will be one of the most interesting events to visit.__________________ (18. May 2012)

The Arabian horse shows in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) moved out from the ECAHO affiliation already for the last two years - with one exception. The Dubai Arabian Horse Championships (DIAHC) remained to be an ECAHO affiliated 'Title Show' - until now. Due to unsolvable moments between the ECAHO and the DIAHC, the Dubai show organizing committee decided to also step out and resign from the ECAHO affiliation. Now all shows in the UAE are not longer in the ECAHO anymore and follow up the system established from The Emirates Arab Horse Society (EAHS) with Essam Abdulla in the lead, that is in main stream according to the ECAHO system and rules with some varied moments.___________________________________________ (19. On 26th February, the championship finals in halter were held at the prestigeous Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show in Arizona. The four top winners who were crowned brand new Scottsdale champions are: Champion Filly, the beautiful, exotic black RH TRIANA (by ROH Intencyty), bred by Robin Hood Farms and owned by Freeland Arabians, Indiana. U.S. Scottsdale Champion Colt was the young and most promising two-year-old HARIRY AL SHAQAB, a Marwan al Shaqab son out of White Silkk (by Dakar El Jamaal), born in Italy, bred and owned by Al Shaqab, Qatar. HARIRY competed at some shows in Europe throughout last year and won Gold Champion Colt at the Citta di Castello show in Italy before he moved to the U.S. to be prepared for Scottsdale, and in Scottsdale, he first won his class unanimously, then came finally at the top of all the junior males.
Champion Mare became the 2008 born well known 2011 Scottsdale Junior Champion Filly JJ LA BARONESSA, a daughter of Magnum Psyche, owned by Fernando and Joaquin de Santibanes, from Haras Mayed, Argentina. Last but not least, the Champion Stallion and 2012 Scottsdale Supreme Champion was the indeed very impressive Marwan Al Shaqab son ARIA IMPRESARIO, who was among others, also Scottsdale Junior Champion previously, posed in perfection, with an incredible long, elegant and extremely arched neck. He is owned by The Impresario Partners, headed by Jeff Sloan of Aria Arabians. _ (27. Febr. 2012)

The 'Junior Males' competition at the 2011 World Championships between the two three-year-old colts KAHIL AL SHAQAB and SHANGHAI E.A. was exciting - whoever attended the show will remember the great atmosphere and challenge that went on for two days. At the end, these two won Gold and Silver.
Already in Paris, Janow Podlaski stud's director, Dr. Marek Trela, shared KAHIL's championship ceremony with the Al Shaqab team, as it has been published and already known before that KAHIL AL SHAQAB (Marwan Al Shaqab x OFW Mishaahl) will be on lease to Janow Podlaski for the 2012 and 2013 breeding seasons. However, Michalow Stud had also negotiated on the other Paris medal winner SHANGHAI E.A. (WH Justice x Salymah, by Khidar) who had been the 2011 European GOLD Champion Colt as well as GOLD at the 2011 Aachen All Nations Cup, where he was beating KAHIL to second in class. SHANGHAI E.A. has been chosen by Michalow Stud's director Jerzy Bialobok to breed some of the best and a bigger group of broodmares in 2012.
That the Polish stud's have always been progressors in their programs. Now they have made another interesting new step taking both World Champion medal winners and the two big contenders in 'Colts' of the major 2011 show rings to Poland, each stud focussing on one. We will see the results of these two young stallions in the Polish programs the next two years, seeing their foals coming and growing on Polish ground.
While KAHIL has just arrived in Janow Podlaski Stud, his two year younger full brother WADEE AL SHAQAB started his amazing show career. In December 2011 he won the title Qatar National Champion Colt, and continued January 2012 as the International SILVER Champion at the prestigeous Al Khalediah A-Show, and just one day ago he was crowned as the 2012 Qatar International A-Show GOLD Champion Colt. It seems that WADEE follows his older full brother KAHIL in the showring and carries on the success of this family.

The famous QR MARC (Marwan Al Shaqab x Swete Dreams), 2011 World Silver Champion, multiple International Champion and outstanding young sire, has been leased by his owners Knocke Arabians in Belgium to Dubai Arabian Horse Stud. He will be breeding mares there, but he will also be shown and compete for Dubai Stud in the Middle East and through the show season. At his first appearance this year at the recent Abu Dhabi International Show in February, QR MARC did not just give a great presentation, he looked and showed maybe even better than ever before. From the six judges in the senior stallions' class he collected the ultimate score of 20 throughout the panel for 'Type', also five times a 20 for 'Head-Neck" and besides the other 19s and 19,5 in ' Movement' another 20 in this criteria. At the end, he was the sovereign 2012 Abu Dhabi GOLD Champion Stallion, voted unanimously from all eight judges. Next major stage and show for QR MARC is the Dubai Show in March. ______(25.
